APRIL 23 rd BOOK DAY

When is St George's Day?
St. George's Day is on 23rd  April.
It is England's national day.
Saint George is the patron Saint of England.
St. George or Sant Jordi, in catalan, is the patron of Catalonia too.

It is a symbolic date for world literature, since 23rd April 1616 was the date of death of some important writers, Cervantes, Shakespeare and Garcilaso de la Vega. According to the traditions, people exchange some presents: men give their girlfriends roses, and women give their boyfriends a book to celebrate the occasion.
According to the legend, St.George saves a young and beautiful lady who was about to be eaten by a huge and terrible dragon! Saint George kills the dragon  and when he dies bleeding, suddenly appears a bush of rose. St.George picks a rose and presents it to the young and beautiful lady…
